Logistics and dispatch
Production planning and electronic delivery notes
Context
In construction-material deliveries, timely information about queues, departures and handovers is critical. Paper delivery notes and phone calls overload dispatchers and drivers and undermine the quality of ERP data.
The starting point
A construction-materials producer was buried in communication between dispatch and drivers. Departure, arrival and unloading times, as well as plant queues, were hard to capture reliably for the ERP and billing. Passing information on by hand slowed operations down.
Our approach
We first split responsibilities between production planning, the plant, drivers and the recipient. Then we designed a shared delivery status, from the queue through GPS timestamps to the electronic delivery note, so each role adds data instead of calling around.
What we delivered
We delivered an operations web app for production planning and dispatch (queues, loading, map) and a mobile app for drivers with GPS timestamps, plant queue support and delivery documents. It handles electronic delivery notes with remote signing and integrates with the ERP, including hooks into plant automation.
Solution scope
The solution ties together production planning and plant queues, mobile support for drivers, electronic delivery notes and operational data for the ERP. Dispatch and the field share the same delivery status without constant phone calls.
How it works in practice
Dispatch and the plant manage the queue and loading, the driver confirms the trip with GPS timestamps, and the handover is completed on site or remotely. Departure, arrival, unloading and the signed delivery note reach the ERP continuously, not just at the end of the shift.
Outcome
There are fewer calls between dispatch and the field, ERP timestamps are more accurate, and queues and material handovers run more smoothly.
Summary
Operations now share one view of every delivery, from production planning to handover at the recipient, with less paperwork and better data for billing.
